ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Worship Director will lead the worship ministries of Five Oaks at our new church plant, launching in Fall
2025 in Cottage Grove, MN. This person will play a pivotal role in shaping the worship culture of the plant
by creatively leading worship experiences that proclaim and reflect the story of God in ways that inspire
and engage the congregation.
As a part of a church plant, this position requires a visionary leader who is adaptable, innovative, and
energized by the opportunity to build something from the ground up. While the primary emphasis is on
weekend services and congregational worship gatherings, the Worship Director will also collaborate with
other ministries (e.g., Student and Children’s Ministries) to cultivate a cohesive and engaging worship
culture throughout the church.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The leader of the weekend worship team
> Identify, mentor, and empower gifted individuals to grow spiritually and serve on worship teams.
> Direct team members and help them grow as disciple-makers.
> Develop a serving culture that is enriching, fun, kingdom-focused, and personally meaningful.
The lead weekend worship leader
> Lead the congregation in worship, preferably with the ability to play a lead instrument (Keys/
Acoustic Guitar)
The leader of teams
> Oversee, develop, and disciple the Tech Director and other key volunteers as needed.
> Develop student worship team members and leaders in collaboration with the Student Ministries
Director.
> Oversee and optimize setup and teardown, empowering the Tech Director and volunteers to ensure
technical excellence.
A leader of leaders
> Develop and empower others to lead worship across various ministries including weekend worship
services, Five Oaks Students, and Five Oaks Kids.
A constant learner and innovator
> Improve weekend worship experiences to increase engagement and the proclamation of the Bible.
> Work closely with the Lead Pastor and key leaders in shaping the future of worship services.
> Introduce new worship styles that engage diverse audiences and reflect biblical truths.
A servant leader.
> Assist in providing care to the congregation as needed.
> Assist the Lead Pastor in problem solving as needs arise in the church.
> Equip and entrust volunteers with essential support responsibilities to enhance team efficiency.
SCOREBOARD
> The Worship Ministry is growing steadily in volunteers, team members, and congregational
engagement as the church plant takes root.
> The congregation and seekers are actively participating and engaged in meaningful worship
experiences.
> Gifted and called individuals are being recruited, developed, and deployed to serve and lead in
worship ministries.
> New worship leaders are being developed, mobilized, and released.
> Musically skilled students are being discipled and equipped for worship leadership.
> Worship Team members feel valued, and love serving in this ministry.
> Worship services are spiritually engaging, creative, and impactful.
> Team members and volunteers feel well-informed and supported through clear communication and
well-organized systems.
REPORTING
> Reports to the Lead Pastor.
EXPERIENCE
We welcome candidates with varying levels of experience, whether early in their worship leadership
journey or with years of experience. This role provides robust mentorship and leadership development to
help you grow as the Worship Director. We have the systems, people, and commitment in place to develop
this person in the skills and arts of staff oversight and other leadership skills.
PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED
Skills such as preaching, songwriting, or church planting experience, which could enrich the worship
ministry.
