Job Title: Director of Programming                                             Reports to: Deputy Director

 

LifeBUILDERS has a career opportunity for an individual looking to be part of well-established Detroit ministry.  This is a full-time position that would be of the highest interest to a passionate, experienced ministry leader whose heart is to help the organization extend its reach in the community to more youth and families. It’s an unparalleled opportunity for the right person to be part of mission that has changed an entire community and hundreds of lives. The position will require a leader that is very hands-on in carrying out programs.

 

The Organization

LifeBUILDERS Detroit is a 501C 3 faith-based non-profit community development organization.  The mission is to bring life and hope to an under resourced community on the east side of Detroit known as Regent Park. The organization has been in existence for over 19 years. The organization has widely impacted the community in the name of Jesus Christ by providing affordable, high-quality housing, by addressing blight and the redevelopment of abandoned commercial properties while meeting the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of families leading to a strong community. The Opportunity

19 years of work in our community has opened new doors of ministry opportunities to all ages. Great gaps still exist in education and accessible programming options for community residents. The primary responsibility of the Director of Programming is to create, implement, manage, and scale Christian programming to meet these needs, expand and deepen relationships with existing families, and develop new relationships.  The Director of Programming will further be responsible for growing and managing strategic partner relations to best serve community residents. This is an immediate need and an opportunity to join a passionate team committed to reaching the entire community with the Good News. Some training is provided. The organization provides a comprehensive benefit package.

Description of Duties

  • Help fulfill the mission of the organization under the supervision and guidance of the Deputy Director
  • Coordinating all ministry programs and increasing the number of people reached through them
  • Provide leadership, organization, and supervision of youth events and programs
  • Recruit and nurture volunteers for related programming
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships
  • Recruit, train and manage program staff, both full and part time
  • Assist in planning and implementing special events and activities as planned by the program team
  • Collect program data as needed for grant writing and funding purposes

Qualifications, Skills and Gifts

Spiritual:

  • A strong and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • A passion for spiritually investing in children and their families
  • A heart for urban ministry

 

Experiential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7+ years of professional ministry experience working with youth and children, whether paid or volunteer
  • 3+ years of experience in urban ministry
  • Able to teach and facilitate developmental discussions with students
  • Ability to plan, organize, communicate, and facilitate youth programs or ministry-wide events
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and safe record in order to assist with youth transportation, program prep, etc.
